Evening Glow
A warm amber circle appeared quietly on the rug as darkness arrived outside. I crept out from the magazine basket and slid toward the small wooden stool beneath the lamp. Leaning against its smooth round leg, I discovered a thick, knitted wool blanket folded upon the lower rung. It looked like an inviting little hill. I nudged my soft blanket corners up along the chunky yarn, tucking my paws into the soft ridges. High above, the lamp gave off a faint, steady hum that gently filled my ears.
