Phoenix 🐦🔥 - A Bed of Warm Wool - 🎞 Buddy Story ; part 33
A soft hollow caught my eye inside the woven fireside basket. Seeking a quiet shelter from the chill of the evening rain, I climbed over the sturdy rattan rim and found a folded burgundy knit scarf resting beneath a stack of firewood logs. A heavy pine splinter had fallen across the fabric, pinning down one of the plush ribs. I stepped forward, bracing my weight against the split wood, and eased the stray splinter aside into a shadowed corner. Kneeling on the soft wool, I smoothed the rich crimson weave until it formed a sheltered nest beneath the basket's edge. Settling into the deep fabric, I let the day's chill fade.
