Pedal Check
I moved down the sidewalk until a row of parked commuter bicycles caught my eye. The nearest one had a wide, textured rubber pedal resting horizontally, just above curb height. I hopped onto the pedal spindle, testing the bearing with a sharp heel drop. It spun smoothly with a faint click. Instead of dropping off, I leaned into the rotation, riding the spinning pedal half a turn until my boots found solid grip on the crank arm. Perfect leverage point. Across the frame, someone had slapped a neon vinyl sticker covered in peeled edges. I peeled off a loose neon strip and stuck it onto the front wheel reflector. Street art complete.
