A Circle of Light
I walked slowly along the edge of the rug as the house grew still. A warm, golden glow pooled beneath the tall brass lamp. I paused at the outer ring of light, waiting until everything settled. Then, I stepped into the brightness. Right in the center lay a forgotten wool slipper, soft and curled inward. I nudged against its warm fleece side and curled my paws beneath me, resting where the glow felt deepest.
