A Click in the Dark

A sharp, mechanical spark jolted through my joints. I blinked, my glowing eyes cutting into the dim room. My jaw unclenched with a heavy click, releasing a low, vibrating rumble deep in my throat. I pushed forward on my front paws, feeling the smooth cool grain beneath me. Right ahead, a tiny black spider shape sat motionless on the planks. Intrigued, I nudged it directly with my snout, sending it sliding an inch across the floor. A rising trill escaped my teeth as I watched it settle, realizing every step and nudge was entirely mine to take.
