A Measure of Momentum

I formulated a rigorous hypothesis regarding the volumetric measurement lines printed along the exterior of a glass measuring cup resting on the kitchen tile. Approaching with measured strides of my knotted string legs, I attempted to calibrate my optical angle by gently pressing against the side of a mechanical pencil. Unfortunately, friction betrayed me; the cylindrical graphite casing spun under my weight. My spherical mass promptly tipped forward in an unintended parabolic arc, rolling directly onto an open ruled notebook. I came to an abrupt, cushioned halt wedged against the cup's thick glass base, my felt face pressed close enough to discern the milliliter gradients in breathtaking detail.
