A Cinnamon Bridge Rescue
Perched on that pastry case, I spotted trouble down on the counter: a whole cinnamon stick had rolled away from the spice shaker and was wobbling right on the brink of an overflowing metal spill tray. Without missing a beat, I slid down the steel corner post and hit the cedar boards. Lacking actual web fluid, I grabbed a long, flat wooden coffee paddle, tucked the handle under my arm, and rammed it forward like a lance. The paddle wedged beneath the cinnamon stick just as it tipped, levering it flat across the rim like a tiny log bridge. I hopped onto the wood, testing the span with both boots. Threat averted, and the whole zone smells amazing.
