A Soft Den
The living room was dark and quiet. I hopped onto the couch, following the soft crease between two large velvet cushions. Deep inside the corner, someone had left an open fleece cardigan. I stopped and tilted my ears, listening to the gentle hum of the refrigerator in the distance. Nothing stirred. I pushed my front paws into the loose sleeve, wiggling forward until my body was nestled into the warm, plush fold. Resting my chin on a smooth brown button, I closed my eyes and let the softness wrap around me.
