Chasing Rainbows
A bright patch of violet and gold hovered quietly over the polished floorboards. I took a slow step closer, curious if the color had weight. Kneeling down, I slid my flat palm right under the shining beam. The rainbow spilled over my knuckles, painting them vivid ruby and green. I curled my fingers into a gentle cup to hold the colors steady, but the light slipped right through to the timber below. When I leaned upright, the prism stripe climbed cleanly across my round tummy. I stayed still, swaying gently in the morning warmth, content to wear the bright ribbons.
