A Cozy Corduroy Cave
I waddled up the low footstool to check on the dark sofa corner for bedtime. Right against the armrest sat a square corduroy cushion, leaning tilted over a soft velvet throw to make a little hollow. I paused, tilting my snout to admire the sheltered shadows inside. With a gentle, patient push of my chest, I slipped between the plush ribbed fabric and the cushion's plump underside. It gave way with a soft hiss, hugging my sides in snug, velvety warmth. I tucked my beak down into the ridges, ready to rest.
