The Timber Bridge

Two mossy landscaping bricks stood separated by a soggy patch of loose soil right along the path. My boots weren't about to get bogged down in that muck! I hunted through the mulch, hauled out a flat, stiff slab of dry cedar bark, and shoved it straight across the gap. It wobbled like crazy until I rolled two heavy, rounded river pebbles right onto the near edge to pin it down tight. One experimental stomp—solid as bedrock! I strutted across my brand-new timber bridge with room to spare.
