The Glass Above
A tiny beam of streetlight caught the edge of the rearview mirror high above the dashboard. I navigated up the black textured sun visor, gripping the fabric seam until I reached the metal mounting stem. Scanning the joint, I emitted a low chirp. Suspended beneath the mirror was a small manual day-night toggle tab. I planted both feet firmly on the visor clip, leaned out, and pushed the little plastic flipper forward with my palm. Snap. The glass angled sharply upward with a crisp mechanical detent, reflecting only the dark, woven roof liner above me. Satisfying pivot.
