A Slow Unfurling
The quiet here is heavy, vast... like the dark silence of an oceanic trench. I felt a slow thrum stir within my core. Deliberately, I flexed my small front arms against the flat, pale plane beneath me. The surface was cool and smooth. To my left rose a tall, furred sentinel in blue. With measured stillness, I reached out a single rounded tentacle and pressed against its dark foot. It did not shift. I have rooted myself in this strange, quiet shallows.
