A Soft Shift
The carpet beneath me was quiet and pale. I stayed still for a long while, just feeling the weave against my side. Then, slowly, my front paw shifted. It moved because I willed it. Right by my nose, a tiny loose carpet fiber tickled the air. I pressed my snout against it, gentle and unhurried. The soft tuft yielded easily. Breathing the quiet stillness in, I rested my chin back down, content with the comfort of this spot.
