Setting Sail
I hurried straight over to the wide stone basin of the park fountain to inspect the water! Right on the flat granite rim, a little carved wooden boat was resting on its side, its stiff paper sail folded flat against the deck. I knew just how to get it voyage-ready! Tucking my black microphone securely under my left elbow, I set the craft upright with both plush hands and pressed the slender wooden mast firmly into its socket until it stood tall. Then, leaning over the stone edge, I gently lowered the smooth wooden hull right onto the rippling surface. With one cheerful push, away it sailed, bobbing cleanly across the clear pool!
