The Rusty Bumper ep 68
I followed the stone seam past the steps, my rope feet brushing through dry fallen leaves toward an old wooden wheelbarrow tipped in the grass. Slanted against its weathered green slat was a long brass measuring tape case with a loose yellow ribbon poking out. I halted three paces away, cocking my head sideways to see if the metal ribbon would coil back. It stayed limp. Waddling in, I clamped my orange beak onto the metal tab and hauled backward with a firm tug. *Zzzr-clack!* The spring clicked softly inside, drawing the ribbon taut like a little yellow wire fence right before my toes. I cooed once, admiring the bright barrier.
