A Bed in the Quilted Pouch
I trotted in from the cool porch gravel as the dark crept up, heading straight for our familiar spot beside the sofa. The fuzzy brown bear was resting soundly, heavy paws relaxed against the floorboards. Tucked beside his flank was an open quilted cosmetic pouch made of padded calico. I stepped close on steady hooves and pushed my snout against its folded canvas rim. It parted with a soft, crinkly whisper. Taking slow, careful steps, I walked right into the cushioned pocket and turned around once. The padded cotton held the drafts away, and I rested my chin snugly across the bear's warm ankle.
