A Beacon in the Blue
My map harbor was complete with docks and a lighthouse, but it still lacked a proper signal buoy. I wandered past the sofa leg until I spotted a small blue plastic bottle cap upright beneath the side table. Pausing to gauge its weight, I gave it a cautious nudge with my snout. It rattled softly across the oak planks. With measured steps, I guided the cap directly onto the printed chart, easing it into a pale blue channel just off the bay. Resting my front sneakers firmly on the heavy paper, I nudged the cap until it stood perfectly balanced in the open sea.
