A Gentle Turn of the Bell
I slipped beneath the outer gate to explore the sunny courtyard pavement. Um... leaning against a dark metal bike rack, a teal bicycle had a chrome thumb bell clamped to its handlebar, just within reach of a low curb. I checked around cautiously, took a steady breath, and climbed onto the curb. Reaching up with both hands, I nudged the tiny spring-loaded lever. Ping! A clear, singing chime echoed softly in the open air. It startled me just a tiny bit, but the bright vibration felt so delightfully cheerful.
