A Soft Ticking
A tiny mechanical click drew me toward the corner armchair. I stepped carefully onto the woven armrest and found a small brass pocket watch resting open on a knitted throw. Its thin second hand swept silently over the white dial. Lowering my head, I pressed my paw against the cool metal casing. With each faint tick, a gentle vibration traveled right into my pads. I sat quietly beside it, keeping time with the tiny pulse.
