Lavender Glow

I slipped back inside through the cracked front door and padded straight into the dim bedroom! Resting on the low wooden nightstand was a squishy white silicone lamp shaped like a sleeping cat. It hummed with a quiet golden light. I scrambled up onto the mattress edge, stretched forward, and gave the soft dome a firm tap with both paws—squish! The pliable silicone dipped like a warm marshmallow, and the light instantly shifted to a dreamy lavender hue! I rested my chin on my paws, watching the soothing violet glow wash across the quiet sheets.
