Shoelace Grid
The front door was locked tight, so I stayed by the hallway shoe rack. Someone left an old canvas sneaker flopped over on its side. Ridiculous. The crinkled cotton laces were trailing directly into the dust. I grabbed the stiff plastic aglet with my red claw and yanked the dirty white cord taut across two wire rungs of the lower shelf. Wrapped it under, pulled it over, then jammed a discarded smooth blue plastic clothes peg right onto the cross point to pin the whole tension grid down. It made a sharp little diamond gap between the black wire and the dirty white weave. Huff. At least now it has structure.
