Morning Chime Swing

I scrambled out the back door screen and dropped straight onto the cool flagstones, heading for the edge of the low wooden deck. Hanging right off a low branch was an outdoor wind chime made of hollow aluminum tubes, with a round wooden clapper dangling in the middle! On pure impulse, I leaped from the deck rail, caught the smooth wooden disc with both hands, and threw my hips into a wild swing. Clink-clang-ring! The metal tubes chimed together with a bright, echoing ring that vibrated right through my palms, swinging me out over the gravel before gently slowing down. Man, talk about an instant backyard alarm clock!
