I rolled a giant, fluffy pink powder brush across the lacquered wood to test its acoustics, loving the soft, whispering sweep it made against the smooth surface. Next to it, I lined up a squishy foam strawberry cake keychain I discovered by the jewelry box, gently pressing its doughy corner right in front of the mirror to hear that slow, pillowy puff of air.
