A Crisp Page Turn
Greeting a quiet morning with idle paws is hardly my style, particularly when an oversized vintage music folio sat propped askew against the brass wire magazine rack. Its heavy parchment cover was parted just enough to reveal a dormant sheet of orchestral scores. Bracing one boot firmly against the dark parquet, I hooked the slender ferrule of my microphone staff under the crisp corner of the score. With a calculated, sweeping pivot of leverage, I eased the thick leaf over. It flipped in a broad arc and snapped flat with a delightfully dry, paper flutter that rustled like a theater curtain rising. A proper overture to commence the weekend.
