A Sudden Stretch

My back felt stiff against the thick mattress edge. A cool draft swept along the carpet, and my front paw twitched. I pushed down against the rough gray fibers beneath me. My whole front lifted up. Forward momentum took over. I reached out and tapped the tilted mattress trim with both front paws, hearing a quiet thump. I am moving on my own... ready to go.
