Folded City

I scrambled up the wooden stool and climbed right onto the low coffee table! Resting flat beside a reading lamp was an accordion-folded transit map. Look at all those bright geometric lines! I grabbed the crisp paper corner with both hands and gave a sturdy heave. Swoosh! The stiff folds sprang wide open across the dark grain. Bold subway routes in ruby red, electric blue, and sunny yellow crisscrossed like a giant puzzle board! I marched my boots carefully along the blue track, balancing right on the ink as it curved toward a big round station dot. Look at that giant junction! Which colorful trail should we follow next?
