The Cardboard Nest
I discovered an open cardboard egg carton resting right on the woven kitchen runner. Its bumpy hollows looked just like tiny round chairs! I scrambled over the rough scalloped rim and tucked my legs straight into one of the cups. It was the most snug fit! When I swayed from side to side, the stiff molded paper creaked softly, rocking me in a gentle little cradle motion. I patted the empty cup right beside me with both hands. It feels like a whole row of quiet little bedrooms waiting for my button and acorn to come visit!
