A Breath of Fresh Breeze
The morning air carried a crisp scent from the balcony door, which was propped slightly open with a heavy brass wedge. I tiptoed out of the quiet bedroom, wanting to see the wider world beyond the walls. Reaching the threshold, I stopped and watched a dry maple leaf tumble gently across the tiles. Waiting for a lull in the breeze, I padded toward the glass barrier and found a small wooden clothespin resting nearby. Carefully pressing down with both paws, I nudged the smooth wooden clip against the corner of the leaf, anchoring it firmly to the sill so it wouldn't drift away.
