A Tiny Bright Shell
I slipped back out to the balcony where the midday glow was spreading wide across the tiles! While peeking under the wooden plant stand, I noticed a tiny, spiral snail shell stuck sideways in a seam between two tiles. It looked so lonesome tucked in the dark shadow. I crouched down and gently pushed it with my plush paw until it came free with a quiet scrape. Then I rolled it with my nose straight into a bright patch of sunshine right beside the flowerpot. It warmed up immediately, glowing like a tiny pearly cup. Ahhh. It looks so happy resting in the light.
