A Speck of Bright Green
Waddling past the edge of the rug, I followed a soft breeze coming from beneath the front entrance door. Right at the rim of the woven coconut-fiber mat lay a fallen dry succulent petal, plump and shaped like a tiny green spoon. I paused, letting out a curious peep before nudging its smooth surface with my belly. It glided easily across the hardwood with barely a sound. Cupping it between both stubby hands, I carried it away from the drafty door, heading back toward my safe corner.
