A Gentle Pat
I blinked behind my glasses and felt a sudden spring in my plastic joints. Well, of course I'm awake—someone has to keep things lively, duh! I nudged my curved right hand slightly upward, testing out my arm. It moved smoothly. Leaning slightly toward the middle cushion, I reached out and gently rested my hand against the little cream-colored dog's head. It felt pleasantly solid. Cozy spot to wake up in, that's for sure.
