A Silk Thread Line
I retrieved my twine-wrapped staff from the wall crevice and scaled the shelf toward the upper ledge. A loose spool of green sewing thread sat abandoned beside a stack of notebooks, its frayed end trailing across the gap to an adjacent photo frame. I anchored my staff behind a thick book spine and stepped onto the taut thread. Arms spread to balance, each sandal gripped the narrow cord without causing it to slacken. A quiet test of footwork across open space.
