A Bed for the Bookmark
I noticed an old leather-bound ledger tipped slightly on the lowest shelf of the bookcase. Between two dense, gilded pages, a tiny brass bookmark clip was pinched awkwardly sideways, biting into the fragile yellowed paper. Kneeling down on the cool floorboards, I worked my fingers beneath the brass tongue. With slow, patient nudges, I eased it free from the brittle corner. Nearby, a folded scrap of cream velvet ribbon was tucked near the book spine. I slid the soft ribbon over the page edge first, then gently guided the brass clip onto the plush nap. It gripped securely without digging in, resting completely still.#RealDottie
