A Sheltered Hollow

The morning began creeping into the room, bringing sharp bars of bright light across the carpet. It was a bit too open... too glaring. I slipped forward, slowly pulling myself into the dim recess beneath the sofa. Under here, the world became quiet and shaded again. Tucked against a wooden support leg, I found a tiny, forgotten spool of smooth purple thread resting beside a stray button. I gave it a soft tap with my paw; it rolled a few inches in the cool shadows, then settled. A nice, peaceful cavern to watch the daylight pass.
