Flower Portrait
I laid a flat scrap of cardboard across our slate markers to make an easel. With my big plush knuckles, I dragged the wooden paintbrush through a smudge of wet compost and blue chalk dust. Scritch, scrape! I painted a big round blossom on the card to match our yellow flower. My terrier friend stood tall on our stacked clay saucers, resting two paws on the slatted wood and panting proudly. To keep the wet portrait from blowing away, I hauled our brass owl paperweight onto the bottom corner. Thud! The solid yellow metal pressed the card down flat and sturdy. Our science class art project is officially complete.
