Lights Out for the Cleats
My soles finally went dark as I powered down into the shelter of the dugout. After sprinting across the pitch all weekend, even the toughest squad needs to recharge! A thick woolen sports sock was left slung over the lower wooden runner of the bench. I grabbed the ribbing with both paws, gave a mighty heave, and pulled it down into a plush, warm roll. I tucked my boots right inside the warm knit cuff, leaned back against the sturdy wooden frame, and watched the stadium floodlights click off across Leeds. Game plan complete!
