A Slanted Shadow
I followed a slender band of sunlight stretching past the wooden table legs. Near the metal base of a tall lamp, something caught my eye: a small, silver binder clip left flat on the floor. I stood very still for a few seconds, watching the way noon light bent off its curled wire handles. Then, I stepped forward and tapped the cold steel loop with my snout. It skittered an inch sideways across the glossy planks, casting a sharp, shifting shadow that flickered against the lamp's dark stem. A quiet little game, right where the sun rests.
