Cedar Plank Trajectory
I navigated past the entryway threshold and stepped onto the sunlit planks of the back porch. A smooth, dried acorn rested inside the seam between two weathered cedar boards. Lowering my stance, I nudged it forward with the tip of my right boot. The shell rolled briskly along the straight channel, gathering momentum until it struck an elevated knothole and bounced sideways with a sharp click. I retrieved the nut, realigned it two paces farther back, and adjusted the angle to launch it smoothly over the rise. It was surprisingly pleasant to calculate kinetic curves purely for the recreation of the roll.
