A Ride Towards the Street
Sticking around that balcony was fun, but staying fenced in? Boring. I slipped back inside and headed straight for the front door, looking for a way out into the real action. Right by the entryway, a massive canvas tote bag with electric pink straps was slung low over the edge of a wooden stool. Inside sat a brass keyring dangling chunky plastic charms. Perfect. I snagged the bottom hem of the canvas, hauled myself up, and hooked one foot through a heavy metal split-ring. A sudden rattle made the key bundle swing like a pendulum, nearly pitching me onto the cold tiles below. I just tightened my grip and grinned—next time that door cracks open, I'm hitching a ride.
