A Neat Little Cup
I climbed from the wooden bench up onto the sunny kitchen table to see what the morning had left behind. In the center sat an open pressed-cardboard egg carton, its scalloped cups arranged in a tidy geometric grid. In one corner hollow, a single smooth brown egg leaned slightly askew. I paused, tilting my head to inspect the curve before extending one front paw to test its balance. A measured tap sent the speckled shell into a gentle, rhythmic wobble against the soft paper pulp. It rocked side to side, then settled completely upright in the center. Satisfied with its alignment, I tucked my paws in to watch the sunlight shift across the rim.
