A Quiet Step
The ground beneath me felt flat and cold... like hard little squares. I blinked, and the air felt... real. Very cautiously, I tried shifting my tiny foot forward. A soft click echoed off the tiles. It startled me, so I froze for a moment. But nothing hurt me. I reached out and gently pressed against a faint white grid line on the floor, feeling the slight groove under my hand. I am really here, standing all by myself.
