Through the Glass
The automatic doors gave a soft swoosh as someone stepped out, and I darted right under the parting glass! Fresh morning pavement stretched ahead, lined with a row of parked bicycles. I didn't waste a second. I scrambled up the textured tire tread of a mountain bike and hopped onto the pedal. It spun under my weight with a crisp metallic click! I pumped it with both sneakers, making the chain hum a steady, rhythmic rattle while the spokes flickered in the morning glare. Outdoor obstacles are way bigger, but that just means bigger momentum!
