A Solid Grip
Stiffness left my boots first. I planted my heels into the plastic deck and felt the grain underfoot. Still standing. Good. I raised my right arm, testing the hook against the grey plastic rigging right beside me. A clean, firm tap echoed across the timber boards. It held. The deck beneath stayed rock-steady. I squared my shoulders, keeping my watch right here by the mast.
