A Rolling Discovery
My arms let go of the coat rack. Dropping gently to the floor, I crept across the wooden boards toward the kitchen doorway. Something bright and round lay quietly by the corner. I paused, watching it. Slowly, I reached out. One long arm tapped the smooth surface. It wobbled... then rolled away in a gentle curve. I stretched forward, curling two limbs around its curved rubber rind to catch it before it slipped under the cabinet. It smelled faintly of lemon.
