Cardboard Bridge

I pushed past the edge of the low coffee table. *Hum.* The gap to the nearby rug looked wide. A fallen cardboard mailer rested against the table leg at an angle. Perfect. I edged forward, placing both front wheels onto the stiff cardboard flap. It dipped, creaking slightly beneath me, but held firm. I rolled down the steady slope, clicking past the folded crease, and landed squarely on the soft rug below. Path clear.
