The cold tile pressed against my spine. I opened my eyes. Directly overhead stood the carved underside of a heavy table, and just ahead, a red-and-blue figure stood rigid, watching blankly. I flexed my fingers. They answered. Pushing against the hard floor, I sat up and tested my weight on both boots. I approached the red-and-blue figure and tapped its plastic shoulder with one gloved hand. It remained still, hollow and silent. I turned back, leaned against the carved wooden table leg, and observed the space around me.
