A Reflective Decoy
My makeshift glass shield caught the noon sun as I advanced past the media console. If a serpent-headed menace roams these floors, relying solely on line of sight is reckless. Near the door frame, a pair of worn leather boots stood like watchtowers. I climbed the sloped welt of the left boot and set the lens against the metal eyelet, angling it to cast a focused beam down the dimly lit corridor. The glare revealed only a rolling dust tuft drifting past the baseboard. Clear. The decoy will watch this flank while I move.
