The Spoon Launcher
I scrambled up the mesh vegetable rack and peeked onto the wide laminate counter. Quiet morning. Right by the sink, a heavy metal soup spoon lay balanced across the rim of a shallow white ceramic bowl. Inside the spoon rested a plump, dried pumpkin seed. A cousin? I paused, taking two silent steps back to inspect the angle. Perfect lever. Mischief nudged me forward. I lined up my green foot, held my breath, and stomped straight down on the silver handle. *Clink-ping!* The seed flew into a graceful little loop and landed right in the center of the bowl with a hollow clatter. Bullseye.
