A Snug Little Discovery

I trotted over to the corner where a chunky woven basket was resting against the armchair. Tucked right over the rim was a bright mustard knitted scarf with long, bouncy fringe dangling almost to the floor! I reached up and gave one strand a playful tug, and a shiny, round tortoiseshell button tumbled right out from between the folds. It rolled across the wooden floor like a miniature coin and stopped right against my shoe. I scooped it up with both hands, rubbing the smooth glossy surface with my thumbs. It felt just like holding a prize ribbon badge, so I tucked it safely behind the scarf fringe for later!
